oh what a night...
Tomazobi
They’re a “Mundart” band brilliantly vocalizing in a dialect peculiar to the region of Berne, they’ve been at it since 1999, they’re last studio album is «Gringos Fantasticos» (2016, followed by a live version) and that’s pretty much what they themselves are.

Just take their over 700 wildly celebrated public appearances (which led to the junking of four touring vans) and over 20’000 CD’s sold through independent channels. But you’ll look in vain for any appearances on any hit parade. A perpetual touring band, they’ve left their calling card on ski slopes, public baths, rehab facilities (which let them leave) and no small club or den has been left untouched plus a kindergarten or two but neither have a few luxury hotels.

Tomazobi’s furious style of play at popular events like Heiteren Open Air, Gurten Festival and Open Air St. Gallen became the stuff legends are made of also for the fact that the band employed solely acoustic guitars in their all-out attack on the senses. Which led one paper to label them «guerilla troubadours». They’re the ultimate good times band and although these song makers enthrall and confront you with their own compositions they don’t shy away from outright and gloriously corrupted versions of «Aquarius» from the musical «Hair» or Queen’s «Bohemian Rhapsody» and songs by Shakira, Metallica and they freely borrow styles from reggae to house to African to Swiss folk. Magically turning it all into their own unique ballads.

The members of the band are Maze Kuenzler on guitar and vocals, Mark Obi Oberholzer on trumpet, vocals and keys, Nick Werren on bass and vocals and Muso Stamm on drums and vocals. They’re great fun also because they have fun with themselves and the know a thing or two about comedy too. Language is big with them but is mostly expressed in dialect so prick up your ears.

Tomazobi, live tonight at El Lokal. The ultimate good times band at the ultimate good times locale.
