The legendary Jellyfish Kiss with their amusing and sharp-witted songs were founded and are led by Andrea Caprez on guitar and voice. Fusing alpine and rocking sounds with great idiosyncratic song writing describing the high and the low of life. And all of it expressed in his distinctive voice. He’s also a well-published illustrator and cartoonist and he teaches his art as well. Tonight Jellyfish Kiss is mixing it up with a frequent collaborator and his band, Max Lässer and the Überland Orchester. Their newest cd is «1:1» released earlier this year. The band’s current formation is the great mad Max Lässer on guitar, lap steel, dobre and mandolin (anything that has strings, he says); Markus Flückiger on Schwyzer accordion; Patrik Sommer on bass and Kaspar Rast on drums. Swinging from overland to all over the world they boogie with a sound rooted in the tradition of old Swiss dances. A repertory that also encompasses sounds as exotic as indigenous South African where in the 90’s Max expanded his roots and worked with big names from the local music scene in Cape Town. One recording available from that period is Max Lässer and Madala Kuene Bafo «Of Animals, Children, Blues And Love». Successful collaborations and relationships with artists of another culture proved to be strong influences and provided experiences for this worlds-expanding Swiss artist that eventually resulted in the participation of a 100-gigs tour of Europe and Africa.
Dance, dance, dance your butt off to Swiss and other folk tonight. It’s going to be a holy moly guacamole less than silent night.
