Generationals (USA)
Remember the one line of many memorable lines in that great classic rock song «I hope I d-d-die before I get old»? (Who's the band, you ask?) And that's the segue to introducing the Indie-Rock band Generationals from New Orleans, State of Louisiana.
They formed in 2008 and christened themselves after an often used buzzword that was supposed to ring in generational change during and after the 2008 elections, booting the dark Bush years. (Wonder what everybody might think about it now - let's just say, the jury's still out...)
Ted Joyner and Grant Widmer are the two fine musicians that make up the Generationals. Their first album from 2009 was «Con Law», followed by the EP «Trust» in 2010 which was followed by their second album, «Acter-Caster». The song «When They Fight They Fight» was bought by Bloomingdales for advertising purposes and another, «Faces In The Dark», you could hear in the background of the TV series «Chuck» in its third season. They've got a knack for this kind of songs because others of their compositions found exposure in film and advertising as well.
They'll bring their newest soundtrack «Heza» (2013) to our shores, a work that evokes luminary soundscapes, endless horizons, imaginary vision streams and ominous lyrics (When you wear your black sunglasses/You are up for the snitch of the century/Nobody could change your mind). Gratis show! plus all that outdoors fun for you at the water gap of the Mississihl, a spot that has never known any generational gap. Not even the shifty promise of it.
