Nadja Zela – Additional Show
Record release party

The effing covid with its forced pause has had one positive consequence: It inspired some artists to new heights of creativity.

Take Nadja’s hot of the press new album “Greetings to Andromeda – Requiem”, released in vinyl and as a double album. “Requiem” probably stands for the remembrance of her husband Badoux and the father of their two children, who died suddenly. (So sorry, we can’t even imagine what that was like for her). Nadja will present the entire album live tonight. This indomitable sorceress of Swiss rock, equipped with a thunderstorm guitar and robust vocals, has been on the scene for quite some time, going back to the 80’s when she was reaching prominence in the scene with her audacious interpretations of blues, soul, alt-rock and what was labeled brute folk. She’s also been a fixture in several bands she either joined or fronted.

About the song “Back to God’s Country”, to be found on “Greetings to Andromeda” and out as a single, she wrote: “It’s full of loving spirits and comfort as well as the brutal truth about loss. The deepest moment of grief when things can’t get worse and you actually want to leave the world as well is strongly expressed in the lyrics of the song – like a holy wish to follow the deceased.” Another video was shot for the song “Still alive” and it’s a small cinematic masterpiece: it shows her in hospital garb, approached by surgeons with mad gleams in their eyes, rubbing their hands in anticipation, ready to cutcutcut. But folks, in a Chaplinesque twist, Nadja escapes by bouncing on a trampoline on which she’s later joined by the perplexed surgeons and now everybody’s bouncing happily. Out of the death spiral; Nadja, welcome back.
