oh what a night...
Stanley & Stanley & Stanley
Looking at this trio’s head shot, they could’ve easily called themselves The 3 Rasputins.

While some critics actually called their oeuvre Siberian blues, this marvelous, outlandish pan-European lounge trio is essentially a folk-country-blues band with their compositions spiked by weirdly atmospheric trips into sweet soul, charming chansons, mean country and cacophonic calypso. The sonic concoctions of these bizarro master musicians come across as an amalgamation of sad, darkish tunes with alternate passages easing up and taking off into delightfully whacky spheres while other compositions, electric or acoustic, are left alone to gloriously going absolutely nowhere.

Led by former Maniac and current head of the Dead Brothers (The One and Only Death Blues Funeral String Trash Orchestra) Armenian blooded Alain Croubalian (vocals, acoustic and electronic guitar, banjo) presents a multi-disciplined background with an artistic rap sheet longer than the road to Yerevan. With this kind of impressive history, he can safely be voted Brother Stanley no 1. Brother Stanley no 2 is Kai Buchheim aka Digger (grave digger?) Barnes (contrabass) whom Brother Stanley no1 dug up in Berlin where he played in the gallery of the nightclub SO36, you know the one on the Oranienburgstrasse. Further cementing the brotherhood of Brother Stanley no 1 and Brother Stanley no 2 was the embracing of Brother Stanley nr 3 in the person of Friederich Paravicini (cello, harmonica, Therevox synth, toy piano) aka Mosquito Hopkins, refuting the opinion that only a dead mosquito is a good mosquito. Making the brothers Stanley the deadly trinity they are today, more lethal than death itself and scarier than 3 Rasputins.

Live at El Lokal, Stanley & Stanely & Stanley. The brothers proving the point that 1 & 1 & 1 can add up to much more than 3.
