oh what a night...
Robert Rotifer
He's a Viennese singer and master guitarist, was born there in 1969 as the son of the then Austrian finance minister and now lives in Canterbury, England and this' his tale.

Robert got his formative mojo together early on in diverse Vienna based Britpop bands which led to founding the mod band, the Electric Eels (no relation to the other Electric Eels). After their break-up in 1996 it was on to where the lights were shining bright, London first, Canterbury later. It was also the time when he set out to carve himself a name as a writer and music journalist, interviewing some of the biggest names in Britpop for his home-recorded 2-hour show on FM4. Back on to his musical career by founding the band Rotifer, their first album came out in 2001 under the title «A Different Cup of Fish» which kicked off a string of 5 successive albums, one of which, «The Hosting Couple», was produced by Wreckless Eric. The video Frankfurter Kitchen from the album «Coach Number 12 of 11» (2008), is an ode to the Austrian architect and resistance fighter Margareta Schuette-Lihotzky and featured Robert’s paintings in a cartoon conversion and was subsequently presented at MoMA, NYC and accepted into its permanent collection (https://youtu.be/cbV5tUWhpGg). «Über Uns» is his current album and it’s an altogether more introspective, Wienerisch influenced, work.

His views are not exactly the bull horn portal for great optimism of any kind and some of his acerbic lyrics aren’t easy to digest to say the least. But his heartfelt songs reach you in fine full frontal fashion, not least through his emphatic and slightly broken voice. Creatively and stylistically, this light fingered guitar man and wordsmith calmly and effortlessly wraps his yarn around your body and soul.
