oh what a night...
Dodo (CH)
Of all the highflying exotic birds who’ve tunefully flapped their wings in our aviary on the island on their migration to anywhere, this is another one that stands out.

Dodo, actually Dominik Jud, was hatched by Swiss parents in Nairobi in 1977, six years later flew the coop and landed loaded with exotic baggage in this here somewhat less colorful sanctuary called Switzerland. Undeterred and true to himself, this strange bird grew to become the undisputed pioneer and mover, shaker and top performer of Swiss Reggae, which he customarily voices in witty dialect. With his first single «Robinsong» he was an immediate chartbusting sensation on the Swiss Hit Parade. Later it was another single «Wieso?» (How Come?) with which he added another feather to his cap, followed by an album titled «Reggae Against The Machine». Birds of the same feather, Doppelgangerwith Thomas Gassmann was a band he sang for and produced as well. Currently, he’s also giving us an early-bird-gets-the-worm listen at his new album that features the single «Hippie-Bus» and is scheduled to take flight this fall. It’s part of this new album with a collection of songs that chatter, cluck, cry, cuckoo and tweet, twitter and warble to all of you bird lovers hearts’ delight. Moreover, the cd partners with a video which was shot in South Africa.

When not performing or writing new stuff, he’s been producing for the equally highflying Lo & Leduc and their 2014 «Zucker fuers Volk» («Sugar for the People») which is going platinum and just helped this duo win 3 Swiss Music Awards 2015. Before that, he was sweetening the pie for Steff La Cheffe’s 2010 «Bittersuessi Pille» («Bittersweet Pill») and 2013’s «Voegu zum Geburtstag» («Birds for a Birthday»), helping to propel both to gold. And add to that another Swiss talent with quite a future that Dodo’s produced, James Gruntz and his 2 SMA Awards 2015.

Precious metals aside and just in time for the cockatooing, cuckootoing early chirping of impending spring, this exotic specimen’s flying into our birds nest on the isle on the wings of his hippier-than-hip busmobile. Hey Yo’!, it’s Dodo!
