oh what a night...
The DeSoto Caucus (DK)
«These four great Danes from Aarhus grew out of Howe Gelb’s Giant Sand and eventually became a band well versed in traditional and contemporary American music and turned into a vehicle of intriguing sounds and songcraft.» So it says on the website and you sure can believe all of it. You could also call them a Aarhusian/Tucsonian mezclada because of the time they now spend in both locales.

The very gifted DeSoto Caucus are Anders Pederson (vocals, guitars), Peter Dombernowsky (drums, clapping etc.), Nikolaj Heyman (vocals, guitars, bass) and Thoger T. Lund (upright bass, clarinet, piano). Besides their important creative and formative liaison with Howe Gelb, they’ve been jobbing openmindedly and adventurously with «anyone interesting around» which led to collaborations with notables like Isobel Campell & Mark Lanegan, Kurt Wagner and the famous «Shout» Scout Niblett. To load even more mystery on to the plate, the group also toured under the names of Nave Nielsen’s Deer Children or Plastic Horse. Word plays aside, their music’s  unpretentious and deceptively simple, it’s been called «Cosmic American Music» – breathtaking, multi-layered, simply brilliant. Unbelievably cool guitar play conjures up and fades dreamlike in and out of surreal, vintage and red an ochre colored landscapes.

Their third album «The DeSoto Caucus» lives up to its critical acclaim. It’s inspired by the sounds and images of a wild and blazing desertscape and it’ll baffle, then indulge and finally totally relax your mind. Possibly to the point of no return.
