oh what a night...
Heymoonshaker (UK)
d a z - z l e (daz'l) (v), - z l e d, - z l i n g 1) To blind or dim the vision of by excess of light 2) To bewilder or charm, as with brilliant display 3) To be blinded by light or glare 4) To excite admiration... Hey, for once, Rolling Stone mag got it right re: Heymoonshaker when they let them make the grade as «dazzling».
Because of their youtube video hit «Cream F Feeling», millions of fans (they call themselves shaking moondoggies?) are on the tail of Heymoonshaker now, a Sweden and France-based UK Beatbox Blues Duo. Out beamed the album «Heymoonshaker» and with it, Dave Crowe and Andrew Balcon launched a fresh and spirited new sound that at times feels strangely familiar. No, we're not talking «death by nostalgia» here (Cheers, Frank Zappa), not even close, because simulteanously, their sound's as futuristic as it is extremely inventive. If that's a little confusing to your ears, listen, here's how it happened: Dave, the Beatbox virtuoso - who's setting whole new standards for virtuosity - jammed into Andrew, the Blues guitarist with the voice of Howling Wolf in New Zealand in 2009.
And off into the future and to fame they went together with the symbiosis that combines harmonising urban sounds, beatbox dub-steps, deep bass with a roots which conjoined with Delta blues and rock n'roll into a mix of hard to resist, bootyshaking intensity. They're well travelled and have already moonbeamed through Europe, Egypt and the U.S. and are now threatening to land by our moonriver, «Oh dreammaker and heartbraker» (Hey, cheers Henri Mancini and Johnnny Mercer). It's raz-zle daz-zle time and they'll musically moon and shake you and you'll agree there isn't anything like them out there. Or on the moon.
