The last Gentlmen of contemporary literature
Sunday, 02.06.2013, 20:20
oh what a night...
Franz Dobler (Reading) (DE)
He's been called the last gentleman of contemporary literature. And the 'last cowboy' among German writers. Franz Dobler, the Bavarian author, journalist, DJ, radio play writer and enlightened connoisseur of Country Music first expressed his inner cowboy in 1991 with «Jesse James and Other Western Poems.» For this work and «Tollwut» (Rabies), he received the Bavarian Prize for Advancement in Literature.
This admirer of Joerg Fauser, Johnny Cash (read his bio about him: «The Beast in Me - Johnny Cash and the strange and beautiful world of Country Music»), Rosa Luxembourg and Charles Bukowski is quite the opposite of a tightlipped type like Clint Eastwood - you know, he who spoke to an empty chair at the 2012 GOP convention. Aaaargh Clint - what's in the water in Carmel CA? Tea Party tea?
Franz Dobler has things to say that reach beyond any plains and especially any island. And he says it in his own unique style, pointing a beam of light at the obvious and the not so obvious. Simply put, it's writing that explodes horizons.
So get into your breeches, tie your horse next to his outside on our bycicle rack, listen to his words sure to be somewhat more intelligent than those coming from a celluloid cowboy. And please, you don't want him to read to empty chairs, do you now?
